Mental health disorders occur in many people young and old. The current endemic has increased the number of many mental health disorders seen today. In a recent study performed women who had COVID-19 related symptoms were more likely to have mental health disorders. It is not just women who have seen an increase in mental health disorders, children, men, and older adults have seen an increase in the rate of mental health disorders too. Just because you did not experience COVID-19 symptoms does not mean that you will not have an increased risk, because the stress alone, of the endemic can cause mental health disorders.





Mental health disorders increased during the endemic:

  1. Depression
  2. Anxiety
  3. PTSD
  4. Perinatal Depression (depression during and after pregnancy)
  5. Perinatal Anxiety (anxiety during and after pregnancy)
  6. Grief or loss related to the endemic


Signs and symptoms to report:

  1. Decreased interest in activities
  2. Weight gain or loss, or change in eating
  3. Agitation or irritability
  4. Fatigue or loss of energy
  5. Feelings of worthlessness or guilt
  6. Poor concentration or indecisiveness
  7. Depressed mood
  8. Recurrent thoughts of death
  9. Feeling nervous, restless, or tense
  10. Increased heart rate
  11. Sweating
  12. Trembling
  13. Rapid breathing
